Miletus

Miletus is an ancient port city on the seaside near the mouth of the Büyük Menderes River in the Aegean region (classical name Meander) in western Anatolia. Now it is 5 km from Akkoy in Didim District of Aydın. It is in ruins in the north and near the village of Balat and is located approximately 10 km inland from the sea, since its harbor is filled by Büyük Menderes.
